I have spent my last fifteen years in ministry and believe that nobody understands better the importance of praying for our family members than I do. I have conducted numerous prayers individually and in groups to pray for family members.
One of the frequent questions I get is how one can pray for family members, such as cousins. I recently said a powerful prayer for my cousin, and I’ll share it here.
Dear Lord, I pray for my cousin that you may give them the spirit of revelation and knowledge of your word. Let their eyes of understanding be opened so they may understand your perfect will. Give them wisdom, and help them to realize that you called them and that there is hope in that calling. Let them know the riches and glory in their inheritance as saints. Please help them continue understanding the mighty power within them and know they are seated with Christ in the heavenly places. Amen. Inspired by Ephesians 1:15-21. The verses provide things we should pray for other people, and they perfectly suit a prayer for a cousin.
In this article, I will present ten prayers that you can pray for your cousin. The prayers will consist of prayers for peace, health, prosperity, gratitude, protection, guidance, and strength.
I will also discuss whether you can say the prayers for your siblings or anyone. Read to find this and more.
10 Prayers for My Cousin
Prayer for healing
Dear Lord, I pray for my cousin’s complete healing. The pain and anguish that they go through because of their ailment have caused them immeasurable suffering.
I pray that the power that healed the blind, the lame, the demon-possessed, and even raised the dead may work on their entire body.
Let them experience extraordinary relief so that they can carry their life usually. Remove every bitterness that has occurred as a result of their suffering and heal them emotionally.
I pray that beginning from now, they will walk in divine health and that diseases will find no abord in their body. I know my cousin is safe in your hands, and I believe you have healed them.
Amen. Inspired by Jeremiah 17:14, “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise.”
In this verse, Jeremiah pleaded for healing, showing that we can always ask and depend on God for healing for our loved ones and us.
Prayer for Protection
Heavenly Father, I pray for my cousin’s safety and protection. I pray you may keep them from harm, danger, and evil people. My cousins have good hearts and are easy to trust.
Because of that, evil people have taken advantage of them and caused them harm. I pray that no harm shall befall them. Their enemy will come in one way but be scattered in seven ways.
Lord, please hind them as you hid Jerusalem under your wings; let them understand that the world is a dangerous place and allow your protection always to cover them.
When in danger, remind them that you are their refuge and that they can always run to you for safety. Help them take the whole amour of salvation so that they can stand against the wails of the enemy.
I declare they are safe in you; nothing can snatch them from your mighty hands.
Amen. Inspired by Psalm 18:2, “I love you, O Lord, my strength.”
The psalmist has shown us that we can ask for strength from God through prayers.
Prayer for guidance
God of wisdom, I pray that you may guide my cousin in every way as they make important decisions in their life. You see the end from the beginning and can read their thoughts and intentions.
I pray that you will give them a sound mind and a listening ear so they can always hear your kind and gentle voice as you guide them.
When they are groping in the dark and can not see their path, let your word be a light to their feet so they will not stumble and fall.
I pray they will not make decisions that cause them regrets and tears. I also pray they will not make decisions that cost them their time and resources.
Guide them into the right relationships and to people who mean well for their life.
Amen. Inspired by Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
These verses guide us into praying for guidance, not only for us but also for our relatives.
Prayer for strength
Dear God, I pray you will grant my cousin the strength they need. They have suffered a severe blow from the loss of their business. I know the passion and dedication they built and how much time and energy they invested.
Such a blow leaves them with no energy and will to continue. I pray that you will be their strength. Let their mind focus on you and show them it is possible to start again.
Help them understand that you are the one that gives them the power to stand in times of great discouragement and in times of weakness. I pray that they will not waiver in their trust in you. They will continue steadfastly to rely on your strength.
Please give them a sound mind during this time and help them overcome the great emotion of their loss.
Amen. Inspired by Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
This verse is an assurance that God has provided us with strength and we can do all things through him if we ask in prayers.
Prayer for Comfort
Lord, I pray that you will comfort my cousin in their need. Please be their source of peace and comfort; may they find solace in your love. They have gone through a great ordeal because of the death of their child.
Such great pain can destroy their core and cost them their peace. I pray that you will be their comfort and that they will experience the warmth of your great love.
Let your loving kindness fill the void in their heart, and let their sorrow be wiped by a great expectation of a better tomorrow because of you.
Heal their mind, body, and emotions, and let them feel the comfort you give to those who trust you. I pray that you will send people who can continually encourage them to trust in you and who can provide comfort and support to them at this time.
Amen. Inspired by Bob Hostetler.
Hostetler has composed several prayers for comfort, and they formed an excellent guide to making this prayer.
Prayer for Forgiveness
God of mercy, I pray that my cousin will find forgiveness and be reconciled with those they have wronged. You desire a humble and repentant heart.
I pray their heart will not be hardened so they can seek peace with those they longed for. Please help them understand the pain they caused those they longed for and help them bury their pride and seek forgiveness.
Teach them to have a heart that desires peace with others. Open the eyes of their understanding and help them know the special power of making peace with others.
I pray that as they consider doing so, you will ease the pain of those they wronged so they will not think of revenge. You are a forgiving father, and you can teach them love. I pray believing in your holy name.
Amen. Inspired by Xavier’s education, Jesuit resources.

God of peace, I pray that my cousin will experience your peace that surpasses all understanding. I pray against the spirit of fear and anxiety that may be tormenting their heart.
Let all the thoughts of peace from you be a flame that continually burns in their hearts. I pray your peace transcends all understanding occupying every part of their being.
Let their relationships, work, family, and other people they will interact with today inspire your peace. Help their mind so that it will not dwell longer in the loss and pain they have gone through in this season.

Prayer for Provision
God of abundance, I pray that my cousin will receive all they need. You are the divine provider, and I have previously heard of your doings.
You provided for Elijah when Jezebel earnestly sought his life and provided a lamb for Abraham when he was about to sacrifice his son.
I pray that you will provide for my cousin in every area of need. Provide him with enough food to eat and share with those in need. Also, provide him with an excellent place to stay so he can enjoy and entertain those needing a place to spend a cold night.
Let them always know of your great work in providing for their needs. I pray again that You will meet their needs according to Your riches in glory.
Amen. Inspired by Philippians 4:19, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Paul made a prayer for provision, and hence we should make it for our loved ones.
Prayer for Joy
Dear God, I pray for exceeding joy in my cousin’s life. I declare that their life will be characterized by the gladness that comes from you.
Lord, fill their hearts with so much joy that even when the situations are unfavorable, they will always emit an aura of extreme joy.
Let your joy be their strength forever, and let those surrounding them receive the same gift. Your love and sacrifice for them are enough to cause them great joy and contentment and help them to hold them dear.
I pray in your name.

Prayer for healing, strength, peace, joy, gratitude, provision, and forgiveness are crucial for siblings.
The Bible in 1 Timothy 5:8 urges us to consider family members because failing to do so makes one worse than a none believer. “But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
One essential thing one can do for their sibling is saying prayers for them.

If your cousin is sick, you may concentrate on prayers that seek recovery, healing, strength, and protection. Conversely, if your cousin is a newborn, you can focus on prayers for safety and good health.
The number of prayers you say depends on your cousin’s current situation or need and your general take on prayers. If you consider any prayers better, make as many as possible.
