As a theologian and devout Christian, I have developed an interest in understanding Heaven. I am especially intrigued by how one becomes eligible to be received into Heaven. Years back, I embarked on a quest to learn more and gather reliable information on this topic, seeking insights from priests and theological professors. I inquired what the scriptures say about the requirements needed to make it to Heaven. Thankfully, the research paid off, and I got all the necessary information. Last semester, I taught my college theology students about Heaven in detail. I was eager to teach and answer any questions regarding qualifications to Heaven. The questions started streaming in as the students inquired whether factors like height, weight, and general appearance have any impact on going to Heaven. One student specifically asked, “Can we go to heaven if we are short?”
Short people can go to Heaven provided they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior through salvation. There are no requirements involving height, age, or skin color that are to be considered for one to go to Heaven. It is only through salvation and faith In God that people can go to Heaven. The Bible mentions this in the verse John 14:6, which states that Jesus Christ is the only way that we can access God and Heaven.
In this article, I encourage you to join me as I dig deeper into what the Bible says about short people, age restrictions on height for people to go to Heaven, how being short affects salvation, and much more!
What does the Bible say about short people?
The Bible records an encounter between Jesus Christ and a short man named Zacchaeus, a tax collector in Jericho. This is stated in the Bible verse Luke 19:2–6. From this interaction, we learn that height does not matter; rather, it is up to us to make ourselves visible to Jesus Christ through repentance and salvation. Jesus Christ needs us to welcome him into our lives so that we can connect with God and receive eternal life in Heaven.
The Bible mentions the story of Zacchaeus, a short man who was a tax collector in Jericho. It says this short man wanted to see Jesus so much, but he could not due to the crowd following Jesus. Because of his height, he could not see Jesus, but he quickly improvised, climbing a sycamore tree to be above everyone else and catch a glimpse of Christ. Jesus saw this and told him to come down and prepare himself, as Jesus and his disciples would rest at his home that day.
From this, we also learn that Jesus Christ makes effort where effort is made. This means that Jesus Christ will respond to our call if and only if we call upon him first. As Christians, we have the means to access Jesus Christ through the gift that he gave us by dying on the cross: salvation. Nothing else matters as salvation is the only requirement needed for us to receive eternal life in Heaven.
Is there an age restriction on height for people to go to Heaven?
There is no mention of an age restriction based on height for people to go to Heaven in the Bible. Salvation by accepting Jesus Christ into our lives as Lord and Savior is the only thing needed to guarantee our eligibility to go to Heaven . There are no mentions of specific physical appearances required for one to go to Heaven. This concept of height as a determinant for going to Heaven comes from inaccurate interpretations and out-of-context views from some people. But this is not the case, as height or age are not factors considered for people to go to Heaven.
Leviticus 21:18–20 gives us a summary of the description of the necessary qualifications needed for priests performing specific services in the Temple or Tabernacle during the Old Testament era. This verse does not speak about Heaven in any manner whatsoever and should not be regarded as concerning any requirements needed to go to Heaven.
Did God make short people to punish them?
God did not make people short to punish them; God made humankind in his image. This is mentioned in the Bible verse Genesis 1:27, which states that God created man and woman in His image. God made everything as it is for a purpose. All of us are equal before God. God does not care about any physical appearances; we are all part of His magnificence, which is creation. God is our father, and all of us are His children. He only looks at our hearts and not our height, age, skin color, social status, or nationality, among other things considered by mankind.
Does being short affect your salvation?
Being short does not affect a person’s salvation. Salvation, or being saved again, means that one is redeemed from the power of sin, ensuring that one can receive eternal life and go to Heaven. Salvation is not affected by an individual’s height, age, skin color, or nationality. Salvation involves accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and having faith in God and His will. God is not like mankind; He does not look at our appearances, for God looks at our hearts 1 Samuel 16:7.
