8 Psalms to Read for Traveling (Psalms Verses to Pray When You are Traveling)

Being constantly on the road for evangelistic ministries and missions, my colleagues and I get nervous when we travel. Our clergy put together some Psalms verses for us to read and pray while we were on the road.

I thought to put together this article and share those verses with others who travel often to help them as they helped us.

8 Psalms to Read for Travelling

Psalm 139:9-10

“If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”

In these verses, the Psalmist declares that wherever he goes, God is there. He says that whether he makes his bed in the depths or settles on the far side of the sea, the Almighty’s right Hand will guide him and hold him fast.

When you are on a journey, this verse encourages you that God is with you throughout. You are rest assured that He will hold your hand.

Psalm 145:8-9

“The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.”

David talks about how God is gracious and compassionate. He also declares how God is good to all. These verses encourage Christians of God’s compassion should they encounter misfortunes while traveling.

You should, therefore, trust that He is good to all and will be gracious to you as you travel.

Psalm 4:8

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

The Psalmist says that he will lie down in peace, for the Lord makes him dwell in safety.

This verse encourages you to be calm and know that the Lord will keep you in peace as you travel up to your destination, wherever you lay your head.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

In this verse, the Psalmist says that the Almighty’s word is the lamp on his feet, and that illuminates his path. Christians should confide in God’s word as they travel to give them courage and hope and light their paths ahead.

Psalm 37:23-24

“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”

This verse talks about how the Lord strengthens the steps of those who believe in Him. It also declares that those who stumble will not fall, for the Lord upholds them.
