Having a relationship with God may seem complicated in a world full of sin and temptation, but it is possible. This topic is worth discussing since many people wonder what it takes to find your path to God. How do you get right with God?
You can get right with God by first acknowledging your sin and confessing. This is explained in Romans 10:10. You must also have faith and believe that Jesus saved you from sin and ask for God’s forgiveness. You can get right with God by praying continually, submitting to him (James 4:7), and trusting in him.

What does the Bible say about getting right with God?
According to Romans 3:22, getting right with God involves placing one’s faith in Jesus Christ. This verse says We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes no matter who we are. This chapter shares the same message of getting right with God with Romans 1:17, which says, For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, But the righteous man shall live by faith.
The same book explains that Christians do not have to keep the requirements of the law as was promised in the writings of the prophets to be made right with God. Getting right with God comes from understanding what is wrong in the first place. The Bible suggests what is wrong is sin. Psalms 14:3 says that there is none who does good, not even one.
The Bible suggests that one can get right with God by acknowledging that they have sinned and fallen short of God’s glorious standard (Romans 3:23). Ezekiel 18:4 tells us that the penalty of sin is death. To get right with God, we should believe that God freed us from the penalty of our sins by presenting Jesus as a sacrifice. Jesus declared that he had come to seek and save what was lost. He accomplished his mission when he said it was finished before he died.
What makes Christians stray away from God?
Some stray away from God due to misplaced affection. They end up loving the things of this world and not prioritizing the things of God. The Bible warns Christians against this in 1 John 2:15, which says, Do not love the world or the things in this world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
Some people also stray away from God due to discouragement. Trials can discourage a person and start focusing more on his problems instead of relying on God. However, different verses in the Bible can encourage one and prevent one from straying away from God. For instance, Deuteronomy 3:18 says, The Lord himself goes before you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.
Others stray away from God due to a change in status. Not everyone who suddenly gains prosperity thanks God for this and remains faithful. Most people become proud and forget that God helped them to where they are. 1st Timothy 6:10 says, For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Some people also stray away from God due to their sins. According to Isaiah 53:6, we are all sinners. This verse says, All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone his own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Some people feel guilty about their sins and therefore start drifting away. They fail to go to church and feel reluctant to read the Scripture or pray since they know the issues in their lives.
Rather than straying away from God, the Bible urges such people to confess their sins to God. 1st John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Others abandon God because they are disappointed with him. For instance, disappointment can easily set in when God does not seem to answer a person’s prayer. Not many people are patient since they assume that God will answer their prayers immediately, while some set unrealistic expectations. Others assume that God is unresponsive and therefore drift away from him. 1 John 5:14–15 suggests that God hears all our prayers. The response can be either yes, no, or wait.
What does it take to find your path to God?
To find your path to God, you must be ready to establish a relationship with him. You can do this by acknowledging your sin and confessing. Doing this will help you become saved. Romans 10:10 says, For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth, one confesses and is saved.
Apart from repenting, you must also have faith and believe that Jesus died for your sins (John 1:29). You can also find your path to God by asking for his forgiveness through prayer. Make prayer a habit so that you can avoid the temptations of this world.
You should also submit yourself to God and learn to trust him. James 4:7-8 says Submit yourselves then to God, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God, and he will come near to you. For you to learn to trust Jesus, you should spend more time reading his word since this can help you strengthen your relationship with him.
You can also cultivate your relationship with him by fellowship with other believers and participating in church activities. Finding your path to God also involves seeking input from goldy advisors. Surrounding yourself with such people can prevent you from drifting away from God’s path. Proverbs 11:14 says, Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors, there is safety.
Bible verses about getting right with God
The Bible indicates that everyone is a sinner, and for one to get right with God, they must believe in the salvation that Jesus brought we he died on the cross. 2nd Corinthians 5:21 says, he made him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
This verse shares a similar message as 1st John 1:-2:6, which tells us that we can get right with God by confessing our sins. These verses say, This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you that God is light and in him no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his son, cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
One of the holy days that the Hebrews used to observe was the Day of the Atonement. During this day, the High Priest offered special sacrifices to purify himself, his family, and the entire congregation to make them right with the Lord. This is explained in Leviticus 16:17, which says, No one else is allowed inside the Tabernacle when Aaron enters it for the purification ceremony in the Most Holy Place. No one may enter until he comes out again after purifying himself, his family, and all the congregation of Israel, making them right with the Lord.
Hebrews 9:11-14 tells us that we can now get right with God by believing in Christ, who sacrificed for our sins. This verse says, But when Christ came as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and perfect tent (not made with hands, that is not of this creation) he entered once for all into the Holy Place, not with the blood of goats and calves but his own.
Ephesians 2:8-10 tells us we can get right with God by getting saved. This verse says, For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast, for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
