You can talk to God through Prayer. Matthew 7: 7-8 even teaches us how to pray and tells us that God will answer our prayer when we ask, seek, and knock. Christians can also talk to Jesus by writing down their thoughts, requests, and thoughts. Additionally, you can also talk to God as a close friend. Is talking to Jesus the same as praying?
Praying is one of how one can talk to Jesus. Praying is talking to Jesus since it is directly addressing God. Praying is a way of communicating one’s desires and emotions with God. The Bible describes praying differently. For instance, Exodus 32:11 suggests that praying is seeking God’s favor, while 1st Samuel 1:15 describes praying as dedicating one’s soul to God.
Talking to God is the same as praying since prayer involves conversing with God. When one prays, God listens, and the person must listen to what God is saying.
Praying is talking to God since it involves spending time with him through fellowshipping. 1st Corinthians 1:9 says God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Isaiah 65:24 says I will answer them before they even call me. While they are still talking to me about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers. Christians have established a relationship with the Lord. Since communication is crucial in building a relationship, Christians have to talk to God through prayer and let him respond. With that said, praying is not the only way one can talk to God.
What does the Bible say about talking to Jesus?
According to the Bible, God is pleased with Christians who talk to him about everything. 1st Thessalonians 5:17 urges us to pray without ceasing. The Bible also urges us to confess our sins and repent as we talk to Jesus. This is recorded in Chronicles 7:14, which says, If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
The Bible also implies that Christians must offer all prayer in faith, as explained in James 1:6. This verse says, But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. The Bible also tells us to pray in the name of the Lord Jesus (John 16:23) and the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26)
It also suggests that we can talk to God while kneeling, as explained in Ephesians 3:14. This verse says, For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father. Christians are also urged to live righteously so that He can hear them when they talk to God. We can learn this from 1st Peter 3:12, which says, For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his eyes are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
The Bible speculates that the Lord does not listen to sinners who have not repented. The only prayer that God can listen to from a sinner is the prayer of repentance. Isaiah 59:2 says, But your iniquities have separated you from your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He will not hear.
The Scripture also tells us to present our requests to God and avoid anxiety. Philippians 4:6-7 says, Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Can I talk to Jesus in my dreams?
Most people believe God talks to people in their dreams and not the other way around. The Scripture implies that God can speak in dreams. This is explained in Number 12:6, which says, he said, Listen to my words, where there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions. I speak to them in dreams.
When Jesus talks to man through dreams, they are accessible to him through the gift of the Holy Spirit, as explained in Acts 2:16-17. Dreams are one of the modes of communication that Jesus sometimes uses to get in touch with believers. If one dreams of Jesus talking to them, they should listen to understand.
4 ways to talk to Jesus
You can talk to God through writing.
If, for instance, you are uncomfortable talking to God audibly, you can communicate with him by writing down your thoughts on paper. This enables you to express your thoughts more comfortably. You can write about what you are thankful for, your goals, or any questions you may have for Jesus.
Talk to God through prayer.
Prayer is a great blessing that God has given us. The Bible tells Christians in Psalms 145:18 that The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. Therefore we should learn how to pray and call upon the Lord.
Prayer should not only be used for requests since it is also an excellent opportunity to thank God for what he has done in your life. 1st Thessalonians 5:16 says, always rejoice, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Talk to God as you would a close friend.
Think about the kind of relationship you have with Jesus. Knowing this can help you determine how to approach God. If you don’t yet have a spiritual relationship with Jesus, you should establish this by confessing your sins and repenting.
In Ephesians 2:17-18, Apostle Paul says, And he came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. Through him, we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. Once you have established a spiritual relationship with Jesus, you can talk to him like a close but powerful friend.
Listen and pay attention to feedback.
Since a conversation is two-way, communicating with God also involves listening. Once you have made your requests known to him, you should wait for a response. Matthew 7:7 implies that God answers people’s prayers. This verse says, Ask, and it will be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and it will be open to you.
Though God’s feedback does not come in the form of an audible response, the Bible suggests He is a faithful God. You can anticipate God to answer in other ways, such as in the form of a dream, intuition, a change in situation, or inspiration.
