As a theologian, I have always had a passion for deeply understanding the different aspects of prayers. I have always been inclined to find out what happens in Heaven when we pray. During my theology course and even afterward, I spend much time researching this aspect of prayer. I also visited several churches to discuss with various pastors what the Bible says happens in Heaven when Christians pray. Last week, during our online bible study, we discussed prayers. One member asked what happens in Heaven when we pray. The other group members were also intrigued by this question and were eager to know the answer. Thanks to my effort in doing deep research about prayers, I was in the best position to enlighten the whole group. So, what happens in Heaven when we pray?
According to the scripture, Jesus is in Heaven, interceding for us when we pray. Jesus is presented in the book of Hebrews 7:25 as seated in the Father’s right hand, interceding for us believers. Furthermore, according to Revelation 8:3, heaven seals are opened when we pray.
Join me as I unfold some mind-blowing facts about prayers. I will focus on where our prayers go in Heaven, what the Bible says happens in Heaven when we pray, the benefits of prayers to a Christian, and what happens spiritually if we pray. Intrigued to know more? Keep reading.
Where do our prayers go in Heaven?
Prayer is a powerful tool of dominion given between God and us. In the New Testament, Jesus used the parable of the widow and the judge to show how powerful prayers can be if done with persistence. Ever wondered where your prayers go in Heaven? In (Revelation 8:3), the scriptures talk about an angel of the lord being given prayers of God’s people, which were on a golden altar in front of the throne; we see that our prayers are collected and processed on a golden altar. Therefore, none of our prayers goes in vain; it is banked until God decides how and when to release the answers to us. Therefore, the more we pray, the bigger our prayer account grows in Heaven.
What does the Bible say happens in Heaven when we pray?
According to the scriptures in (Romans 8:26-34), when we are composing ourselves and turn out to pray to God, the holy spirit and Jesus Christ join us in prayers by interceding to the Father on behalf of the saints. Therefore, whether we pray and how greatly depends on what we believe will happen after finishing our prayers. It is always good to believe and be certain that God will act for our good which sometimes we call coincidences. In Hebrews 11:6, the scripture notes that it is impossible to please God without faith. We should, therefore, have faith whenever we make any prayer.
What are the benefits of prayers to a Christian life?
Prayers are pretty beneficial to a life of a Christian. First, prayer acts as a communication line between God and us, as he is always listening to us each and every time we pray. Furthermore, praying daily opens blessings to our family, friends, and us ourselves. It is also a way of inviting peace in someone’s life and opening our understanding towards God. That is why the Bible in the book of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 urges us to pray without ceasing. Below are some benefits of prayers to a Christian life discussed in detail;
It helps you develop a relationship with God
Everyone has a friend or person they enjoy talking to; we can spend most of the time talking to each other without getting bored. These people know us and our secrets; all this is because of good communication and closeness to each other.
Well, the same principle applies to our relationship with God. Spending time talking to God, that is, through prayers, builds a deep and strong bond between us and God. People who have a close relationship with God always give him priority. For example, people in the early church (Acts 2:42) spent time praying to God, and they were able to develop and enjoy a deep relationship with him.
Prayer provides Answers
When we are faced with difficulties in life, we always turn to God to seek answers. God being faithful, always has answers to our problems. God will answer our prayers, but it does not mean he will grant us whatever we ask for, he knows what is best for us and answers our prayers in his way. As we pray to know what God wants us to do and what he has for us, we will receive more blessings and answers to our prayers.
Hope
Praying regularly as a Christian always provides us with hope. It can be the hope of healing, deliverance, blessings, and goodness. And even though when the hoped-for outcome doesn’t come, our hearts and soul are in total agreement that God is working and planning something better.
Peace
According to Philippians 4:6-7, the scriptures urge Christians not to be anxious, but in everything, they should pray and give thanks to God, and his peace will transcend all their understanding. This verse assures believers of peace from God through prayers.
What happens spiritually if you pray?
Communication is the basis of all relationships, and prayer is the mode of communication between God and us. When we pray in faith, there is a mutual flow of energy between us and the higher powers; this happens spiritually, not in physical form. When spiritual people pray, they are sure to find answers because of their established connection with the almighty. Furthermore, praying helps us connect with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, not physically, but spiritually.
