What does God say when we are scared?
The words “do not fear” appear 365 times in the Bible. Just like there are 365 days in a year, God is telling us 365 times not to be scared. Each “Fear not” in the Bible is for each day. Therefore, whenever you are terrified, remember that God instructs us to be brave, for He is with us.
God says that we should not be afraid, for he is the one who helps us even when we are in trouble. Isaiah 41:13 reads, “For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” These are God’s words when he assures the people of Israel that He is their savior. Therefore, God is also promising us that He is also with us. We should not be frightened since he will never leave our side.
According to Joshua 8:1, the Bible suggests that God told Joshua not to fear or be dismayed, for he was with him. Christians learn that God does not want us to fear, for he is with us. We should trust in Him in everything that we face. Since the Bible implies that we are God’s children, he will protect us just like a father protects his child. Therefore, God says that He is with us when we are scared. He says He is holding our hands and showing us the way; hence we don’t have to be scared of anything.
How do I trust God when I am scared?
Trusting God when you are scared starts when you believe that He exists. Believe that even when you are scared, God is with you. You do not have to see him standing next to you for you to believe that he is there. According to Joshua 1:9, the Bible speculates that we should not fear, for God is with us wherever we are. Believe these words, and your trust will grow in God when you are fearful.
The next thing you need to do is read the Bible to learn what God needs you to do when you are scared. The words “do not fear” have been stated 365 times in the Bible. How does God want us to handle fear?
God wants us to handle fear by praying for Him to deliver us from our fears. Psalm 34:4 says, “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.” From this verse, we learn that David pursued God, and he answered him and delivered him of what caused his fears. Christians learn that God is the ultimate shield when they are sacred. Pray unto God that he may help you when you are in fear since he will answer you.
Another way God wants us to handle fear is by trusting in Him. Psalms 56:11 suggest that David said he would not fear since he trusted God. Christians can overcome fear by trusting that God is their strength. God gave us Holy Spirit to guard us and overcome all challenges. Fear is one of these challenges. Satan first made sure Job was scared before he tested his faith. However, Job trusted in God since God gave him the strength to face his fears. Christians should trust in God just like Job trusted in God so they can stop being scared.
How do you pray if you are scared?
The Bible teaches many ways that one can pray if they are scared. Though it does not mention them as prayers, you can use these words in your prayers so that you stop being scared. Below are ways in which you can pray when you are scared.
You can pray by saying that you shall not be afraid, for Jesus left us with His Peace. In John 14:27, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; the Peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” You can use these words which Jesus told his followers so that you can trust more and believe that you will receive the Peace of Jesus.
You can also pray as David prayed in Psalms 56:1-13. David made a payer saying that he trusted God even when he was afraid, for God will protect him against his enemy. In Psalms 56: 3-4, David said, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?” Therefore, you can pray by saying that in God you trust and you shall not be scared. This will enable you to overcome your fears.
Another way to pray when you are sacred is to use Isaiah’s words in his song. Isaiah 12:2 “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” As Isaiah was singing a song of praise to God, he confirmed that our strength comes from God; hence we should not be afraid. He also deep-rooted that God is our savior even when we are scared. You can pray by also endorsing that God is your savior and strength; hence you shall not be afraid, and this will enable you not to fear. God will hear you and deliver you from your fears.
Bible verses about fear
2 Timothy 1:7 “for God gave us a spirit, not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” Timothy taught that one should not fear since God gave us a spirit of power. The spirit of fear can overcome all fears that we face. Jesus left us with the Holy Spirit to guard and guide us when we are afraid.
Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” David faced many enemies as a king. However, he did not succumb to fear since he trusted in God. He wrote a lot of prayers where he prayed so that God could protect him from his enemies. God answered his prayers and delivered him from his fears. Christians should also pray, whenever they are scared, for God’s help so that he can deliver them and make them strong.
Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” God is always with us in whatever we do. God told the people of Israel not to be afraid, for he will go before them and clear the way for them. Christians also learn that God is always ready to protect us, and he will never leave us alone. One should not fear anything, for God is there with them to guard them.
Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” David believed that God was always with Him. He made prayers before battles confirming that God would fight with him and God always gave him victory.
