What is Jehovah’s Witness opinion on oral sex?

Jehovah’s Witnesses hold that oral sex is a sinful, immoral act. They define fornication as acts that involve oral and anal sex, and fornication is considered as a sin.

Therefore, Jehovah’s Witnesses cannot participate in oral sex even if there is consent. They consider it so sinful to the point they have punishments for any parties involved in the act.

The punishment was harsher in the past than these days. In 1974, it was considered a sin that could lead a person to be disfellowshipped from the church.

In 1978, the punishments were less harsh, and they could not disfellowship members. From 1983 to 2011, it was again considered sinful, and participants would lose their fellowshipping privileges.

However, from 2011 to date, their opinion is vague about oral sex since their punishment for the act is not clear.

Can Jehovah’s Witnesses have oral sex after marriage?

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that oral sex, even in marriage, is a sinful, filthy act; therefore, they cannot have such sex in marriage.

They believe that husband and wife should have access to each one’s body, but oral sex is a perverted type of sex that they should not think of doing.

They believe that sex between married people should express their tender love for one another.

Also, according to their beliefs, sex between married people should be honorable in such a manner that it does not cause any form of regret or distress.

They use the book of Ephesians 5:28-30 to explain the tender love that should exist between married people: “In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body.”

Is having oral sex before marriage considered a sin among Jehovah’s Witnesses?

According to their beliefs, Jehovah’s Witnesses hold that oral sex before marriage is a sin. To them, oral sex is equal to penetrative sex, which is not allowed between unmarried people.

They explain this belief using the book of 1Thessalonians 4:3, which says that it is God’s will for believers to abstain from sexual immorality: “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality.”

They explain that the word that was translated to “sexual immorality” referred to all forms of sexual activities outside of marriage. For these reasons, they consider oral sex a sin that ruins the friendship of a person with God.

Also, they consider it a sin against one’s own body. They back this explanation using the book of 1 Corinthians 6:18, which says that practicing sexual immorality is a sin against an individual’s body: “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.”

They explain that oral sex often makes a person feel like they were used, and they spend time regretting it.

Also, they believe that oral sex causes an emotional toll because it is a form of sex that can make a person question themselves, especially if they are not married.

Therefore, they believe that when unmarried people practice it, they are hurting their bodies, especially emotionally, which is said to be a sin against the body.

Does Jehovah’s Witnesses condemn oral sex?

Although they acknowledge the fact that the Bible does not directly say oral sex is a sin, Jehovah’s Witnesses still condemn and list it as a serious sin.

They believe that oral sex is a perverted act, and they subject those involved in it to judicial hearings.

Also, they condemn anyone who publicly preaches and supports oral sex, and it may cost them some privileges, including not being allowed to be a minister or elder.

In addition, since they condemn it that much, they say that they can expel the member who promotes such acts from their congregation.
