Mark 15:42 suggests that Jesus was crucified the day before the Sabbath. If that was the weekly Sabbath on Saturday, this verse implies that Jesus was crucified on Friday. This day is referred to as Good Friday.
Before his death, Jesus was betrayed by one of his friends Judas and was arrested. That night, he was interrogated by Caiaphas and Pilate. The next day, he was tried and then crucified the next morning. Mark 15: 25 implies that it was the third hour when they crucified him. And in the sixth hour, darkness was over the whole land until the ninth hour. Mark 15: 37 records that Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. He died in the ninth hour.
