I realized that people draw a thin line between fairies and angels as it pertains to the existence of the two supernatural beings and their connection with humanity. However, as a pastor, I must enlighten my congregation regarding the distinction between the two entities from a theologian’s perspective. For this reason, I felt the need to share my insights and understanding with you regarding the topic ‘Fairy Vs. Angels: How do they differ?’
Fairies and angels differ in the sense that fairies are mythical beings in Shakespearean fantasy literature and European mythology that emanate from Fairyland as illustrated in Shakespeare’s Fairies. Angels are divine beings associated with God and a religious backdrop in Christianity. This is illustrated in Luke 1:35, where Archangel Gabriel informs Mary of her miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit, and Revelation 12:7, where Archangel Michael and his angels from Heaven engage in warfare against Satan and his angels.

Fairy vs. Angel: Difference in the definition
Fairy
A fairy is a mythical and enchanted creature from European folklore with a human-like appearance, wings, and an inclination for magical powers. They have a tiny size synonymous with sprites, goblins, and gnomes, or they can take up a human size. Fairies reside in nature, such as forests, meadows, near waterbodies, or underground kingdoms. Modern-day fairies are mostly associated with children’s imaginations resulting in the ‘fairy tales’ moniker. They have names such as Tinkerbell and the Fairy Godmother.
Angel
The term ‘angel’ originates from the Greek word angelos and the Hebrew word malakh, which means ‘messenger.’ Angels are supernatural, celestial, and spiritual beings from the theist background of Christianity. They are usually shaped like humans with wings and halos, are mighty, are picturesque with extraordinary beauty, and have divine light. Angels are servants of Gods and benevolent liaisons between the Almighty and humanity. They can be divine protectors and spiritual guides for humans, such as the guardian angels. They have specific names like Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, and Uriel, as well as angelic hierarchies such as Archangel or Seraph. The ones banished from Heaven are known as fallen angels and are divergent from the heavenly host.
Difference between Fairy and Angels

Fairies are affiliated with pagan mythology and folklore in many European cultures. Angels are associated with the religious backdrop of Christianity as heralds of God.
Character
Fairies are often depicted with trickery or malicious acts, although some can be nice, whereas angels are morally upright and good heralds of divinity.
Mortality and Immortality
Fairies are mortal creatures with a long-life span as they live for eons before they die, whereas angels are immortal beings that cannot die.
Audience
Fairies are mostly believed by children, whereas angels are believed by all individuals irrespective of age.
Size
Fairies are depicted as ethereal creatures that are tiny and fragile, whereas angels appear to be mighty beings capable of warfare.
Habitation
Fairies are denizens of the earth that live alongside human beings within a relatively different dimension, whereas angels emanate from the heavenly realm and live with God.
Wings
The wings of fairies resemble utilitarian insect wings that are energetic like butterfly wings and buzz just like dragonfly wings. The wings of angels resemble bird wings and are bigger, feathered, and more vibrant.
Attire
Fairies are often attired in bright-colored organics such as flower petals or the leaves of a plant. Angels are usually illustrated in pastel-colored robes.

Do Christians believe in fairies?
No, Christians do not believe in fairies because they are mythical beings with a Pagan background and no basis in the Christian faith, as illustrated in Away with the Faeries. Additionally, Christianity dominated much of Europe during the Middle Ages and nullified the preexisting belief in fairies during the English Protestant Reformation.
What do fairies look like?
Fairies are diminutive palm-size or human-size creatures with delicate humanoid shapes, glowing bodies, and wings that fly. They are usually perceived as being characteristically beautiful or handsome creatures with no soul, and they perish during death. Fairies are believed to have magic powers, and grant wishes for benevolence and well-intentioned affiliation with human beings. They could be friendly, protective, or mischievous and cruel in their personal affairs with humans. They have lives corresponding to human beings, albeit longer.
Why are fairies not common today?
Fairies are not common today because they were creatures from ancient oral traditions that evolved and adapted to the cultural lens of the times. They were portrayed as fallen angels, demonic creatures, or spirits of the dead. This made people drop the notion of fairies, and they became more uncommon as time went by.
