Jesus a crucial part of Christianity, He is, in fact, the center of Christianity, according to many theologians. With His greatness and goodness talked about in Christian shows, blogs, sermons, etc., some may still question the importance of Jesus, especially non-believers. So, why is Jesus important?
Jesus is important because, as the Bible implies, in John 3:16, He died and paid for our sins so we wouldn’t perish. The Bible suggests that Christ was the sacrificial lamb that took away all our iniquities so God would forgive the human race. According to the Scriptures, in Romans 6:23 and John 14:6, it’s only through Christ that we can be forgiven and enter the kingdom of heaven.
So, does the Bible teach that Jesus is important? What are some of the reasons why Jesus is important in our lives? Can we live without Jesus? What are the dangers of living without Jesus? To answer all these questions and learn so much more, stick around.
Does the Bible teach that Jesus is important?
The Bible teaches that Jesus is important in our lives. According to the four Gospel books in the New Testament, the Bible suggests the importance of Christ based on what He taught, the miracles He performed, and the principles He encouraged believers to live by.
Theologians and Christian Scholars also suggest that Jesus is important as He encouraged believers to develop a relationship with God, be righteous in their actions, intentions, and thoughts, and have compassion towards others. These Scholars also speculate that Christ is important as He provides guidance and an example for believers to follow.
6 Reasons why Jesus is important in our lives
He died for our sins
The Bible, as well as Christians Scholars and Theologians, have taught and discussed why Jesus is important in our lives, and one of the reasons is that He died for our sins and gave us eternal hope. According to the popular Bible verse, John 3:16, the Scripture mentions that Jesus Christ was tortured and crucified to be the sacrifice that would free the human race from sin. The Bible implies that Christ is valuable as He gave up His life to save us from the wrath of God. Through Christ’s death, as the Bible speculates, man has a chance of repenting, being forgiven, and inheriting the kingdom of God.
1 Peter 2:24 also indicates that Christ is of importance in our lives because he gave Himself up so that we can be saved from our sins and be forgiven. According to the verse, without Jesus Christ, the human race would have perished were it not for Christ’s selflessness and love. Additionally,
1 John 2:2 adds to the same saying,“ He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” According to this Scripture, Jesus is important as He is the sacrifice that cleansed all humanity of its sin and gave us a second chance. Theologians speculate that Jesus is valuable in our lives as He did not only die for the believers but also for the entire world, saving everyone.
He is the only way to heaven.
Another reason why Jesus is important is that, according to the Bible, we can only get to heaven through him and have eternal life. In John 14:6, “ Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,” Jesus teaches that it is only through Him that anyone will get to heaven. This implies that whoever believes in Jesus Christ and repents of their sins will inherit God’s kingdom. Christian Scholars and theologians support this by speculating that Jesus is the only way to get to the eternal kingdom. Romans 6:23 suggests the same. Also, Acts 4:12 mentions the importance of Christ in our lives because, without Him, we wouldn’t find salvation.
Jesus is our mediator.
According to the Bible, Jesus is important because He is also our mediator, according to 1 Timothy 2:5, which states that there’s only one mediator between man and God, who is Jesus Christ. This teaches us the importance of Jesus in our lives. Hebrews 7:25 also suggests that Christ is important in our lives as He intercedes for us. Hebrews 12:24 also says the same.
He forgives our sins.
The Scriptures also say that Christ is important as He forgives our sins. According to 1 John 1:9, “ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness,” This Bible verse suggests that if anyone repents, Christ has the power to forgive them, displaying His importance in our lives. As stated in Mark 2:5, Jesus forgives a paralyzed man of his sins after the man shows faith in Him.
Jesus is our healer
Jesus Christ is also important in our lives because He heals; as Matthew 8:16-17 says, “When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.” According to 1 Peter 2:24, Jesus is important in our lives because, by the wounds He suffered on the cross, man could now be healed by simply believing in Christ. Theologians believe that the healing in this Scripture isn’t just physical healing but also emotional and spiritual healing.
He is our Peace
Another reason why Jesus is important is that He is our Peace; according to Romans 5:1, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” This verse implies that through Christ, believers can enjoy the Peace that comes from God, just as John 14:27 demonstrates.
Can we live without Jesus?
The Scriptures suggest that we cannot live without Jesus, and theologians back this up, implying that without Christ, nothing would exist since everything was created through Him. According to Christian Scholars, Jesus, in the Holy Trinity, participated in the creation of everything; therefore, without Him, we wouldn’t exist, let alone be able to live without Him. Colossians 1:16-17, “ For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him, all things hold together,” suggests the same.
What are the dangers of living without Jesus?
As many theologians and Christian Scholars suggest, there are endless dangers of living without Jesus, and one of them is living a life without hope. 1 Peter 1:3 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” suggesting that Jesus is hope and without Him, our lives would be hopeless.
Theologians also teach that without Jesus in our lives, we would live without any direction, Peace, and forgiveness, and we would be unfulfilled in our physical lives. Also, Christian Scholars suggest that without Jesus in our lives, our destinies would be hell, as it’s only Jesus who gifts believers eternal life.
According to the Bible, living without Jesus won’t be peaceful, as John 16:33 suggests, and also, believers won’t have a role model to emulate, as 1 Peter 2:21 adds.
