Christians always wish to be saved and see Jesus during his second coming. The primary purpose of being a Christian is to be granted eternal life by God, for a life well lived in Christ. Knowing Jesus alone is not enough for some people who wish to be saved by him. Due to this, one may ask, “what must I do to be saved by Jesus?”

In John 14:6, Jesus reveals that he is the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to God except through him. Through this, Jesus was clear that one must know and believe in him to be saved.

Jesus also reveals that he will only confess to God about a person if they confess about him to the public, as Mathew 10:32 says. By this, one will fully declare that they believe in Jesus and what he did for salvation.
Getting baptized
The book of Mark 16:16 states that whoever believes should get baptized to get saved. After doing all of the previous processes, one should be baptized the same way Jesus did before his ministry.
Peter and other apostles also told the people present on the Pentecost day that they needed to repent and be baptized, and their sins would be forgiven. The forgiveness of sin ultimately needs to salvation that every Christian longs for.
Remain faithful to God and serve him fully
The last step to salvation is remaining faithful to God and fully serving him. There is no guarantee that one will never sin again after receiving salvation, as human beings are prone to sinful nature. To avoid this, one must humble themselves fully and obey God to retain salvation.

One needs to be saved because failure to do so will lead to eternal death. When one dies before being saved, they cannot access heaven, as they will not have received salvation.

You can also be sure that you are saved when you know that you have fully repented of your sins and that you have been set free by Jesus Christ. Repenting your sin to Jesus is one significant step to salvation.
Another way to know that you have been saved is if you Believe in Jesus Christ and has recognized him as your Lord. Through this, you can fully pursue him in spirit and care less about earthly things.
Above all, you can ask Jesus for salvation by following the abovementioned steps. Jesus is not selfish to deny you your salvation, as he rewards his faithful servants.
