God’s Love for us humans is sufficient and manifests itself through our daily lives. The gospel of John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only-begotten son, so that all who believe in him may not perish, but may have eternal life.” So, how do I know that Jesus loves me?
The Bible gives us a clear view of the great manifestation of Jesus’ Love for us. Jesus accepted to be humiliated in pain, crucified on the cross, and die for the sake of our sins on earth. It is by His conviction that we receive salvation and are given a new life that we may live to conform to the Love of God and live in a way that pleases Him.
While on his earthly ministry, Jesus taught that Love is the greatest among all the commandments. Most of the teachings by Jesus, as depicted in the Bible, assure us of His continued Love for us. So, how did Jesus prove his Love for me? What should I do when I don’t feel Jesus’ Love? Why does Jesus love me? How do I feel worthy of Jesus’ Love? What should I do when I don’t feel Jesus’ Love? How did Jesus prove his Love for me?
Reflecting upon the passage on Love in the book of 1st Corinthians 13:4-8, “Love is patient, Love is kind, it does not act wrongly, it is not afflicted, Love is not ambitious, it does not seek for itself, it is not provoked to anger, and Love devises no evil. Love does not rejoice over iniquity but rejoices in the truth. It suffers all, believes all, hopes all, and endures all. Through these attributes of Love, we learn of features of Love and how Jesus proved His Love for us;
- Jesus sacrificed His Life for the sake of our sins in Love (John 3:16)
Jesus accepted to be nailed on the cross and suffer to death for the sake of the whole world’s sins. He denied all odds by sufferings persecution and being sentenced to end without a specific reason to be crucified. It is by this sign that we learn how deep Jesus’ Love for us was that He had to give up His life and throne as Christ to die for our own sake.
- Jesus fed the hungry and provided wine in Love (Matthew 15:32)
Among His many miracles, Jesus fed over 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish. The people ate to their satisfaction, and there were twelve baskets of remains. It showed him as a compassionate man towards His people. He also changed water into wine at a wedding feast in Cana Galilee after realizing that there was no wine for the guests during the wedding as it had finished. Jesus is a provisional master and comes to His people’s needs.
- Jesus is full of forgiveness and compassion.
God understands and knows our weaknesses. Whenever we fall short of His graces, He says, He is ready to forgive all our iniquities. Jeremiah 29:11-13, “For I know the thoughts that I think of you, thoughts of peace and not of affliction, so that I may give you a future and hope. Then you will call upon me and go and pray to me, and I will listen to you, and you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart” Jesus is with us and acknowledges His steadfast Love for us.
Why does Jesus love me?
Jesus is our Savior who came to earth to save us from our sins. Jesus loves us because of who he is and not because of who we are (1 John 4:10). The Bible says, “God is love.” (1 John 4:8). Jesus came to earth to die for our sins so that we can have a second chance. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).
How do I feel worthy of Jesus’ Love?
To feel worthy of Jesus’ Love, we can pray. It will help you judge his Love. Answered prayers are a way of showing Love to us. It draws us close to Jesus, and we feel worthy of the Love of Jesus. To feel worthy of the Love of Jesus, we can follow God’s commandments too. We can follow the commandment of Love and love others.
The selfless sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross for our sins shows that Jesus loves us. The one thing we can do to feel worthy of Jesus’ Love is to repent of our sins. By repenting, we can feel worthy of the Love Jesus showed us when he died for our sins and show that we understand the Love Jesus showed when he died on the cross.
We can feel worthy of the Love of Jesus by understanding Him. We can do this by seeking knowledge and wisdom in the Bible. By reading the Bible, we can understand the Love of Jesus and find hope in His Love.
What should I do when I don’t feel God’s Love?
A person should pray. It will help in spending time with God. Ask God to rejuvenate himself in you. Submitting to God through prayer and confessing that you do not feel God’s Love will allow God to increase your desire for him.
Another thing to do when you do not feel God’s Love is to read his scripture for re-affirmation. God tells us that he loves us and even gave up his son for us to reconnect with him. Reading the scripture will help you understand that whatever you feel is valid, feelings come and go, and God’s Love for us stays.
Where in the Bible can I get assurance of Jesus’ Love?
Several passages in the Bible talk to us about Jesus’ Love. Jesus showed us the utmost Love by dying on the cross. By that, he paid the hefty price for our sins so that we might reconnect with God and be his friends. John 3:16 explains the Love that Jesus had for us. He accepted to become sin that we are cleansed. A love that no one can show us.
Furthermore, Jesus assures us of his Love in John 13:34-35. “I give you a new commandment: love each other. Just as I have loved you, you must also love each other. It is how everyone will know that you are my disciples when you love each other.” Therefore, though we are assured of Christ’s Love, we must love each other just like he died for us. His Love was so extreme that he went to the cross for us.
Ephesians 5:2 says, “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savior.” Christians, we are assured of God’s Love, so we must walk in Love just as he loved us.
How can I experience God’s Love in my life?
God’s Love can be experienced by a person when they accept Christ as their Savior. The Bible can illustrate it in John 3:16. God showed his Love by sacrificing his son. Those who are beloved by God shall have his Love since they shall be granted the way to heaven (eternal life).
