In my after-church discussion with men waiting for God to grant them their female partners last week, we discussed the first male and female companionship and how long it took for Adam and Eve to meet. It was necessary to understand this because most men did not know how long to wait for God to give them a companion. So, we had to determine how long God took to grant Adam his companion. It was a very interactive session as we discussed the answer to the question, “How long was Adam alone before Eve?”
It is suggested that Adam was alone for 12 hours, assuming that a day during creation equals the present day. They were both created on the 6th day according to Genesis 1:27-31. However, according to the second account, there is more detail. Adam was created at the beginning of the 6th day and Eve at the end of the sixth day. It means that he waited from the beginning of the 6th day to the end of the 6th day.
Join me in this article as I write about how long Adam was alone before God created Eve. Also, I will write about the age of Adam when God created Eve and discuss whether Eve was created during the seven days. Read on to find out more.
How long was Adam alone before God created Eve?
It is suggested that Adam was alone for 12 hours before God created Eve. It is based on the assumption that the day, during that time of creation, was made of 12 hours, the present-day hours. However, there is a possibility that a day was more than 12 hours and even close to years. The bottom line is that they were both created on the 6th day, Adam in the beginning and Eve at the end of the Sixth day.
How old was Adam when God created Eve?
It is believed that Adam was between the age of 25 and 35 when God created Eve. Although the Bible does not give the exact age of Adam while in the Garden of Eden, it is suggested that he was between 25-35years. Since it has been determined that they were both created on the 6th day but at different times, it is safe to believe that Adam was between 25 and 35 years old when Eve was created.
Was Eve made during or after the seven days?
The first account of creation says that Eve was created the same day that man was created. They were both created on the sixth day, according to Genesis 1:27. However, the second account of the creation story contradicts the idea that Eve was created during the seven days. The second account says Eve was created after all creations, and Adam was created in the beginning. There is no exact mention of days, not sixth, not seventh. Therefore, it is still being determined if Eve was created during the seven days.
On the other hand, other scholars maintain that the second creation account in Genesis 2 basically talked about what happened on the sixth day and not a different perspective of the creation. It implies that Eve was created on the 6th day, which is during the seven days.
Why weren’t Adam and Eve created at the same time?
It is suggested that Adam and Eve were not created on the same day because God wanted Adam to feel the need for a companion. It is suggested that God wanted man to know that being alone was not a good thing, as He described in Genesis 2:18. From the delay of creation of the woman, the need for companionship in the human race becomes conspicuous enough as intended by God.
