6 Psalms to read for weight loss (Psalms verses for weight loss)

I have always believed that living a healthy life is essential. Recently, I had a session with my scholars after graduating in Theology school and was asked about the verses in the Bible that one can read for weight loss.

As a Christian and theologian, I researched and found the Psalms that discuss weight loss.

Therefore, I decided to write this article to encourage you with the verses that can help you with your weight loss plan.

6 Psalms to read for weight loss

Psalm 32:8

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

In this verse, God says He will guide you on the right path and watch over you. It is to show you that God can guide and strengthen you on your journey to weight loss since it can be difficult at some point, and you might feel the need the urge to give up.

Psalm 139:14

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

In this scripture, the Psalmist acknowledges that he knows God created him wonderfully and fearfully. It explains that you should not discriminate yourself in any way.

Even though you would want to start a weight loss plan, you should keep in mind that you are God’s greatest creation.

Psalm 119:143

“Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight.”

David says that even though he has gone through trouble and distress, God’s commandments give him delight. You might find it challenging to delight in eating healthy and working out.

If you remain consistent with your weight loss plan, you will reach your goals and learn to delight in God’s will.

Psalm 28:7

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.”

The Psalmist acknowledges God as his strength and shield. He trusts in the Lord and God help him. It explains that you should trust in God in your weight loss journey.

If you put your Faith in him, you will be joyful because he will keep you strong in heart through the process.

Psalm 103:1-5

“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Here, David blesses God’s name and says that He satisfies his mouth with good things, and his youth will be renewed. It is to show you that God will provide for you with foods that are good for you and your health.

Junk food cannot renew your youth. During your weight loss journey, you need to focus on foods that will bring you good health.

Psalm 63:5

“I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.”

In this verse, David says the Lord satisfies him more than the richest of foods. It means that there is more to life than just food.

If you are on your weight loss journey and you feel the urge to relapse, just remember that God can give you the strength to have a resilient spirit to battle with the urges.
