People usually say seeing is believing. However, in the Christian faith, people are taught to simply believe. This can be hard to do as it would be much easier to believe in something you can see. The question that many people have in their minds is, how to see Jesus?
According to the gospel of John, it is implied that when we believe in Jesus, we see Him. Seeing Him, in this case, is not in a literal sense. Rather, when we believe, our spiritual eyes are opened, and we can see Jesus when we have faith.
What does it mean to see Jesus? Where in the Bible are you taught to see Jesus? What are the ways you can see Jesus in your life? To get these and more questions answered, keep reading.
What does it mean to see Jesus?
To see Jesus means to believe in Him. Jesus once walked on earth but does not anymore. After He completed His ministry, He died, resurrected, and ascended into heaven, whereby He’s seated at the right hand of the Father. Since He is in heaven, and we are on earth, we cannot see Him literally.
The Gospel of John chapter eleven, verse forty, implies that to see Jesus, you need to believe. Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe, you would see the glory of God?” John 11:40. Seeing Jesus is not seeing Him literally but by faith through believing in Him.
Does the Bible teach how to see Jesus?
Yes, it does. As mentioned above, you can only see Jesus in a figurative way through faith by believing in Him. The faith that you will need to believe in Jesus and therefore see Him comes from reading the Bible.
The book of Romans chapter ten, verse seventeen, suggests that faith comes by hearing the word about Jesus.
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:17

To see Jesus even more, it is important to read and study the Bible and apply what you read in your daily life.
Pray
Another way you can see Jesus in your life is by praying. It does not have to be complicated. Just pray by talking to Him as you would to another person.
Prayer helps to grow you closer to Jesus. The more time you spend talking to someone, the closer you get. The same principle applies here. Praying to Him constantly to be more aware of Jesus’ presence in your life.

By joining a local church or small group, you can grow in deeper fellowship with Jesus, build lifelong friendships, gain accountability, and find answers to any questions you may have.
How do I know Jesus is in my life?
Even though you are instructed to believe in Jesus and walk the Christian walk by faith, there are also tangible pieces of evidence to help you know if Jesus is truly in your life.
The following list will give you some of those examples;
You have a greater reverence for His Word
One of the ways to know if Jesus is truly in your life is by an increased reverence and honor for His Word.
This reverence births a greater understanding of His Word, which begets accurate application in your life.
If Jesus is in your life, the Bible will begin to make sense to you. You will have a greater appreciation of it and a greater desire to do what it says.
You have the desire to do what’s right.
Another way to know that Jesus is in your life is by having a heightened desire to walk in righteousness. You will constantly be walking in repentance of your sins and continue walking in obedience to what God’s word instructs you to do.
You want to share about Him with others.
Lastly, another way to know that you have Jesus in your life is that you’ll want to share Him with others. You will have the desire to share the good news of salvation so that they can have Him in their lives as well.
Can I see Jesus in my dreams?
There have been many accounts of people seeing Jesus in their dreams. However, these stories should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism. This is because some people may have thought they saw Jesus in their dreams, but it was due to their imagination. Some people may even lie about these encounters to manipulate others.
The best way to answer this question is found in the scriptures, particularly the book of Luke, chapter twenty-two, verse sixty-nine. This verse implies that Jesus no longer exists with us here on earth. He is now seated at the right hand of God.
But from now on, the Son Of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God. Luke 22:69
It is possible to see Jesus in your dreams. However, the encounter should be in line with the character of Jesus described in the scriptures.
Can I see Jesus in the scripture?
Yes, you can. The scripture, particularly the gospels, extensively talk about Jesus’ ministry while He was on earth, from His birth to His death. The gospels are the first four books in the New Testament, namely, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. All these authors had encountered Jesus and describe His ministry from their point of view.
The Old Testament books also speak about Jesus. For example, the book of Isaiah mentions Jesus several times. Prophet Isaiah, the author of this book, prophesied about the coming of Jesus long before He came.
Can you see Jesus face to face?
Yes, you can. However, the scriptures tell us that this will not happen until you have reached heaven.
As mentioned above, Jesus is no longer walking on the earth but is seated at the right hand of the Father. Therefore, you cannot see Him face-to-face right now.
The book of revelation in chapter twenty-two and verses three and four implies that those who believe in Jesus will see Him in heaven, face-to-face.
No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads. Revelation 22:3-4
Does Jesus exist in miracles only?
No, He does not. Jesus not only exists in miracles but also in the areas that have been mentioned above.
When Jesus was on earth, He performed many miracles, and that’s how many people got to know Him. Now that He is no longer on earth, He exists in the Holy Scriptures and in the spirits of those who believe in Him. He exists in the creation all around you because God, His Father, created everything you can see.
