Recently, while speaking at a youth conference, someone asked how she could use the Bible to pray for a marriage partner.
Relying on my theological background, I offered several verses to help her get started. Interestingly, I caught myself quoting most of them from the Psalms.
That gave me the idea to share the best Psalms to read when looking for a marriage partner. This article has a comprehensive list.
8 Psalms to read for marriage partner
Psalm 1:1-3
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.”
David lists some attributes of the blessed or upright person. They avoid bad company, delight in righteousness, and meditate on God’s word.
These verses encourage you to find a godly partner with whom you share many values.
Psalm 32:8

How to use Psalms to pray for a marriage partner
You can apply the principles of Lectio Divina when using the Psalms to pray for a partner. Select a passage that aligns with your current situation and read it slowly.
Notice the emotions it stirs up and meditate on the phrases used. Next, respond by incorporating the passages in your prayers.
Finally, sit quietly and allow God’s word to minister to you.
