What does Jesus mean in the modern Christian church?

Jesus is the head of the modern Christian church. According to Ephesians 5:22-24, the Bible implies that Jesus is the head of the church, the body, and its savior. It also suggests that the church should submit to Jesus Christ. Also, the Bible teaches that Jesus loves the church just like a husband loves his wife. Therefore, Jesus is the protector of the church. Christians learn to love one another just like Jesus loves the church unconditionally and also because, through Jesus Christ, they are made one.

In the modern Christian church, Jesus is the son of God. “He said to them, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 16:15-17. According to the Bible, Christians learn that Jesus is the son of God. Also, John 3:16 suggests that God gave his only son to die on the cross so that whoever believes in him shall have everlasting life.

Jesus is important to me because, in Him, I find hope. According to 1 John 5:13-14, the Bible implies that whoever believes in Jesus Christ shall have eternal life. It also teaches that when I ask for anything through the name of Jesus Christ, I shall receive it. Therefore, Jesus gives me hope that there is life after death where I shall get to live forever. Death is not the end of me, but the end of my suffering since after death, I shall have eternal life in heaven where there is no suffering.

Jesus is also important to me because He is my friend. “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant, does not know what his master is doing, but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:15. From this verse, Jesus says that he is my friend. I believe in everything that Jesus teaches about our Father; hence I am Jesus’ friend. We share the same knowledge about God.

Jesus is the reconciler between God and me. Ephesians 2:16 states, “and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility” The Bible teaches that through Jesus Christ, the relationship between God and man is reconciled. Before the coming of Jesus Christ, humans had committed a lot of sins in the eyes of God. However, because of God’s mercy towards his people, he gave his only son to die on the cross for the forgiveness of human beings. Therefore, my relationship with God as his child has been reconciled through Jesus Christ.

5 Reasons why does Jesus matter to me?

Jesus is my sanctifier.

Hebrews 13:12 says, “So Jesus also suffered outside the gate to sanctify the people through his blood.” The Bible teaches that Jesus made me holy when he died on the cross. I am forgiven and purified through Jesus Christ to inherit the kingdom of God. Also, according to Romans 1:7 and 1 Corinthians 1:2, the Bible implies that I am a saint, for I have chosen to follow Jesus Christ. This is because, through Jesus Christ, I have received the Holy Spirit to guide me so that I may not fall into temptations.

Jesus is my savior.

Romans 6:23 reads, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Jesus is my savior because, through his death, I received salvation. Philippians 3:20–21 “But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our savior.” Jesus saved me when he taught me the will of God and died on the cross so that my sins can be forgiven. I got a second chance to lead a righteous life so that when I die, I can resurrect and go to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus answers my prayers.

John 14:13-14 reads, “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” Jesus teaches that through his name, all prayers answered because he is the way to our Father.

Jesus is the giver of my eternal life.

John 10:28-29 reads, “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” Jesus says that he will give his followers eternal life. The Bible also implies in John 3:16 that whoever believes in Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life. Therefore, after I die, I shall not perish because, as a follower of Jesus Christ, I shall receive eternal life and live in the Kingdom of God.

Jesus is my peace.

John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Jesus says that through him, I shall receive peace. He teaches me to overcome the temptations that I face and gives me peace of mind.
