What if Adam and Eve never sinned? (what if sin didn’t exist?)

As a Christian and pastor, I always look forward to our bible study sessions since they are informative. Last Saturday, during bible study, we looked at the fall of man. We had an interesting debate on how the original sin affected mankind and what the world would be like if this sin was prevented. One of the questions that my students asked me was, “What if Adam and Eve never sinned?”

The Bible does not tell us what would have happened if Eve and Adam did not sin. However, some theologians speculate that if Eve and Adam did not disobey God, Jesus Christ would not have died. 1st Peter 2:24 tells us that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. Others imply that if Eve and Adam never sinned, they would probably be alive today since their sin is what brought death into the world (Romans 5:12).

In this article, I invite you to join me as we look at what would have happened if Eve and Adam did not disobey God. Keep reading to discover whether the world would be overpopulated if Eve and Adam did not sin and much more!

If Adam and Eve didn’t sin, would Jesus still die?

No. Christians suggest that if Eve and Adam didn’t sin, Christ would not have died. 1st Peter 2:24 tells us that Jesus died on the cross to save mankind from sin.

The sin of Eve and Adam was passed down to every human, and Jesus died to bring eternal life to mankind. This is because sin had separated man from God, and the only way man could have a relationship with God again was through salvation. Theologians argue that if Eve and Adam did not sin and Jesus did not die, we would not have known the depth of his love for us (Romans 5:8)

If Adam and Eve had not sinned, would they eventually have gone to heaven?

Some Biblical scholars speculate that they would have gone to heaven if they had not sinned. Others argue that this concept is unclear since the Bible does not mention whether Eve and Adam eventually went to heaven.

What the Bible makes clear is that Eve and Adam eventually died from their disobedience. Though their physical death was postponed (Genesis 5:5), they experienced spiritual death since they were separated from God immediately and kicked out of the Garden of Eden.

If Adam and Eve didn’t sin, would another person have sinned?

This question has no right or wrong answer since Christians suggest that everyone has free will. They argue that God’s purpose in creating humans was for them to know him and choose to love him freely. The Bible clarifies that if Eve and Adam did not disobey, there would not be the original sin(Genesis 3). However, Christians speculate that this does not leave out the possibility that his descendants could or could not have sinned since God gave them free will.

What could’ve happened if Adam and Eve had children before their sin?

Theologians speculate that if Eve and Adam had children before their sin, they would still have passed sin on to them (Psalm 51:5). Some further argue that due to the sins of their parents, their children would be kicked out of the Garden of Eden along with Eve and Adam.

However, the Bible does not mention that Eve and Adam had children before their sin. It tells us that Eve and Adam were the first humans created by God (Genesis 2:7)

If Adam and Eve did not sin, would they be alive today?

Most Biblical scholars believe that if Eve and Adam did not sin, they would live forever because God gave them the perfect environment and told them they could eat the Tree of Life. The Bible tells us that eating from the forbidden tree is what led to their death (Genesis 3:19)

Some people argue that they probably would still live in the garden if they did not sin. They further speculate that the two would still have direct contact with God. This is because Genesis 3:8 tells us that before Eve and Adam sinned, they heard God walking in the garden, meaning that they were in direct contact with God before they sinned.

If Adam and Eve didn’t sin, wouldn’t the world be overpopulated?

Since the Bible does not clearly discuss this concept, people have different views on it. Some argue that since Eve and Adam were instructed to multiply and fill the Earth (Genesis 1:28) when they were placed in the Garden of Eden, the world would be overpopulated if they did not sin.

However, others argue that the world would not be overpopulated because God has miraculous power and probably had a perfect plan to prevent this. They speculate that God would have stopped births, made Earth bigger, or allowed humans to inhabit other planets to avoid overpopulation.

If Adam and Eve didn’t sin, would sin still exist anyway?

No. Bible scholars suggest that if Eve and Adam did not sin, sin would not exist since it is because of their disobedience that the original sin came into the world. Romans 5:12 records that sin entered the world through one man.

They further speculate that if Eve and Adam did not sin, the world would not be as we know it today. It would be exactly how God meant it to be: a perfect world without sin, death, evil, conflict, death, or sickness. This is because, before the fall of man, Eve and Adam are believed to have lived in a world of perfect harmony with each other and God.
