Where in the Bible does it say Jesus turned water into wine?
The Miracle of Jesus turning water into wine is found in the gospel of John. It is narrated in John 2:1-11. The Bible implies that Jesus had attended the wedding at Cana together with his disciples and mother, Virgin Mary.
They ran out of wine at the wedding; hence Jesus’ Mother asked Jesus for His help. Jesus said to his mother, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” This means that Jesus was not read to show his divinity to people. However, Jesus changed his mind though the Bible does not tell us why.
His mother told the servants at the wedding to do what Jesus instructed them. There were six water pots of stones at the wedding. Jesus asked the servants to fill them with water. Jesus then told them to fetch the water in the water pots and give it to the ruler of the feast. When the ruler tasted the water and found it was wine, he was amazed by how well it tasted but did not know where it came from. He called the bridegroom and thanked him for hiding the best wine until the last moments of the feast.
Where was Jesus when he turned water into wine?

Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Cana is nine miles away from Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus. Jesus had visited Cana with His family and disciples. However, the Bible suggests that they were invited to a wedding on the third day of their visit.
Today, Khirbet Cana is said to be the place where Jesus did his first miracle. This was after research done by the archaeologist Tom McCollough proved it. The archaeological team working with him found lots of evidence at Khirbet Cana and said it is the Jewish village referred to as Cana of Galilee in the Bible. To learn more about the evidence they found, read the article “Searching for Cana: Where Jesus Turned Water into Wine” by Tom McCollough.
Why did Jesus turn water into wine?
The purpose of Jesus turning water into wine is explained in John 2:11 “This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.”
Jesus had just finished choosing his disciples before going to Cana. The disciples had never witnessed Jesus performing a miracle before. It was the best opportunity for Jesus to announce his divinity to his disciples.
The Bible implies that Jesus conveyed his glory through this miracle. The servants and the disciples got to see the power of Jesus Christ. The Bible also suggests that the disciples believed Jesus was the Messiah through this miracle. Therefore, another reason Jesus performed this miracle was to show that he was the Messiah to his disciples and enable them to have faith in Him.
How did Jesus turn water into wine?
The Bible implies that Jesus turned water into wine without touching it. According to John 2:6-10, the Bible suggests that Jesus instructed the servants to fill water into the six water pots at the wedding. After filling water into the pots, Jesus told them to pour the governor of the feast some of the water from those water pots.
Jesus did not lay his hands on the water nor pray aloud for them to hear him turning water into wine. The governor tasted the water that he was given and found that it was good wine. He did not know who had made the wine. He called the bridegroom and told him that in most feasts, they give the best wine first and leave the bad wine for the last moment. He congratulated him for doing the opposite and giving good wine in the last moments of the feast.
What was the significance of Jesus turning water into wine?

According to John 2:11, the Bible implies that what Jesus did at Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory. Jesus showed those that witnessed the miracle that he had power over everything because he was the true Messiah.
Another significance of this miracle is that through this miracle, the disciples believed in Jesus Christ. Jesus had not performed any miracle before for his disciples to believe He was the Messiah.
