How precious is the blood of Jesus?
The blood of Jesus is precious as it was pure and perfect, without any faults or blemishes. His blood was the only blood that could rescue us from the hefty price we had to pay, as there was no one without sin like him. The blood of Jesus is precious because, unlike other innocent drops of bloodshed in the Old Testament, Jesus’ blood is the center of the New Covenant. Not only was it able to cleanse us from eternal sin but also from future sins through confession. Romans 5:9 reads, “We have now been justified by his blood.”
What is so special about the blood in the Bible?
Blood is so special in the Bible because without shedding it, sins committed by man cannot be remitted. In the Old Testament, when the people of God went against his will, the high priests were required to sacrifice innocent lambs for God to offer his forgiveness. Furthermore, in the New Testament, Jesus had no sin and had to become the lamb and shed his blood so that we may be reunited with God. The book of Hebrews 9:22 says, “Indeed, under the law, almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.”
What does blood represent spiritually?
Blood represents life spiritually (Leviticus 17:11 ). It indicates that a covenant has been made because any time God sealed a covenant with humanity, blood had to be shed. In the Old Testament, lambs were killed, and their innocent blood was used to seal the covenants. However, in the New Testament, the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, shed his precious blood on the cross to seal the New Covenant, which sets us free from the bondage of sin.
What is the prophecy about the blood of Jesus?
The prophecy of the blood of Jesus starts to appear as early as in the Old Testament. In the book of Genesis 3:21, after Adam and Eve had fallen short of God’s glory, God had to kill innocent animals and make their clothes by shedding innocent blood. This reflects how the blood of Jesus, which is innocent and precious, covers us with righteousness.
Furthermore, the sacrifice of Cain and Abel symbolically represents the blood of Jesus. When the two had to offer sacrifices before the Lord, Cain went ahead and sacrificed the fruit of the ground to the Lord, while Abel sacrificed a lamb. God accepted the sacrifice of Abel because where there is no blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.
Another prophetic action that reflected the blood of Jesus is when God instructed Abraham in the book of Genesis 22 to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. And though he did not end up sacrificing him as it was just a test of faith, Isaac’s freedom was bought by shedding the innocent blood of a ram that Abraham sacrificed instead of him.
Moreover, during the night of the Passover, God gave his people a message to slay innocent lambs and put the blood on their doors just before he delivered them from the bondage of the Egyptians. Exodus 12:13 says, “When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” And finally, Jesus Christ died on the cross and shed his blood; we are saved through his blood.
What kind of power is in the blood of Jesus?
The blood of Jesus is so powerful that only it could pay the high price on our heads that no human being could pay. The blood of Jesus redeemed us and prayed the price for us. The book of 1st Peter 18-19 says, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed to you by your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”
Another reason why the blood of Jesus is powerful is that it is only through it that we get reconciled with God. Before Jesus, the relationship between humanity and God had been destroyed, and the wrath of God was on us. However, Paul notes in Ephesians 2:13 that in the blood of Jesus, we were brought closer to God. Colossians 1:20 also says, “And having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things to himself.”
Lastly, the blood of Jesus washes us clean of our sins and gives us the power to overcome evil. The book of 1st John 1:7 notes that we are washed clean through his blood. On the other hand, Revelation 12:11 is clear that the lamb’s blood overcame Satan. It is powerful enough that the devil does not want us to learn about it.
What does victory in the blood of Jesus mean?
Victory in the blood of Jesus means that through his blood, we can conquer anything. Before the blood of Christ, Satan had something to hold us down because our relationship with God was destroyed. However, through his blood, we have defeated him (Revelation 12:11), our sins have been forgiven, and God is now on our side because the blood of Christ bought for us the peace we now enjoy with him.
