What year did Adam and Eve live? (Which period in time did Adam and Eve Live?)

Talking about the first humans, Adam and Eve, is always intriguing for my teenage Bible class. These kids always want all details about Adam and Eve, even those not in the Bible. As we started studying the topic of Adam and Eve’s existence, I asked them to think of all the questions they needed answers to. Among the most intriguing questions was; what year did Adam and Eve live?

It is suggested that Adam and Eve lived in 4004 BC, according to scholars like Archbishop Ussher. In his book, The Annals of the World, he says that Creation happened in 4004 BC, which includes the period in which Adam and Eve lived.

Join me in this article as I discuss whether Adam and Eve lived in 5,000 B.C. or 4,000 B.C. I will also write about the year they lived and whether the Bible mentions it. Read on to find out.

Did Adam and Eve live in 5,000 B.C. or 4,000 B.C.?

It is believed that Adam and Eve lived in 4000 B.C. The suggested period is between 4004 B.C. and 3074 B.C. for Adam, who died at 930 years. This idea is based on the research that has been conducted, although refuted, and it says Creation took place in 4004 B.C. Most people who refute this suggested period say that Adam and Eve existed in 10000 BC.

Although there is no Biblical proof of the exact year that Adam and Eve lived, Ussher, Archbishop of Ireland (1581-1656), suggests that they lived in 4004 BC. Ussher is believed to have used the Bible to cover every major event in the A.D. years going back up to the time of Creation in his book, The Annals of the World. His conclusion about 4004 BC is largely informed by Genesis Chapters 5 and 11. However, it is believed that Ussher used other parts of the Bible that offer chronological information, and most Christians believe his suggestion. Through his analysis, a chronology from Creation to the death of Christ is given.

Does the Bible say which year Adam and Eve lived?

The Bible does not mention the exact year that Adam and Eve lived. Believers and scientists have their own formed theories and ways of determining them. Believers like Archbishop Ussher use Biblical chronologies and lineages to arrive at a reasonable and most probable year. Scientists test the Y and X chromosomes of humans to determine how long ago they date.

Scientists can determine what year Adam and Eve lived by testing the Y and X chromosomes of humans in the current world. Since we believe that Adam and Eve, Scientists test Y and X chromosomes from selected individuals across all continents. One of the groups of scientists, Bustamante, and others, tested the Y chromosomes of 69 men across each continent and determined that all of them have a common Ancestor who lived 125000 to 156000 years ago in Africa. Similarly, the mitochondria of 24 women were tested, and it proved that they are related to Mitochondrial Eve, who lived in Africa between 99000-148000 years ago.
