While on His ministry on earth, Jesus performed many miracles that showed his power over nature. Most of these deeds still left His believers wondering about His true powers. Though they demonstrate faith to believe in all of Jesus’ teachings, Christians are in total question about what more Jesus can do. So, can Jesus fly?

From casting out demons to calming the violent storms in Galilee and walking on water, Jesus has total control over nature, defies the law of gravity, and can fly. Based on the Apostles’ Creed, “On the third day, he rose again from the dead. He ascended to Heaven and was seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. (Mark 16:19-20), we can conclude that his ascension meant that he flew to Heaven.

What Jesus did on earth (performing miracles like raising the dead) indicates that he had superpowers. Many believers, therefore, regard the miraculous deeds performed by Jesus as superpowers. In Philippians 2:6, who though was in the form of God, did not consider equality with God, something to be seized.” God gave Jesus the power of the Holy Spirit, which enabled Him to perform miracles. Though He was in a human form, Jesus had the power that equaled God. The Bible gives a testimonial account that Jesus emptied Himself, took a human form, and came down to earth to save the whole world.

As accounted in the books of the gospels, when Jesus began His ministry, he required the enabling power of the Holy Spirit given to Him by God to perform miracles. Jesus used His power to teach about the Kingdom of God and the way to the Kingdom. Since His inception, His mother, Mary, conceived Him by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 1:28-38). During His baptism, the scripture says that the power of the Holy Spirit baptized Jesus. (Luke 3:22).

Jesus performed many miracles that showed his mighty power. Jesus cast out demons in God’s name, He healed the sick and the blind, He had the power of death and raised the dead, and He was filled with compassion and fed the hungry multitude with five loaves of bread and two fish. However, among all this, the miracle of commanding nature and walking on water in Galilee was humbling to all His believers. By the power of the Holy Spirit, he commanded the storms, and they obeyed and firmly walked over the water, demonstrating to His disciples; the power of having faith in God. He taught that faith was the gateway to the Kingdom of God.

Did Jesus fly when He ascended into Heaven?

It is not clearly stated that Jesus flew when he ascended to Heaven. However, In the full view of His disciples, Luke records that Jesus was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. From this scripture, we can say that Jesus did fly when He ascended into Heaven.

In Acts 1:11, the scripture says, “Men of Galilee, Why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus who was taken up into heaven will come in the same manner as you saw him go into heaven“. This scripture further supports that Jesus flew to Heaven.

Just as he appeared after His resurrection, Jesus’ appearance in Heaven will resemble his resurrected body on earth. Jesus ascended into Heaven without wings. Jesus has the same body as the father and is created in the image and likeness of God.

Christians will interact with Jesus in Heaven and relate with him the way he interacted with people after His resurrection. He ate with them and showed the people His true marks on the nails in his hands.

Will Christians be able to fly in Heaven?

The Bible is not clear on how we will look like in Heaven or whether we will fly. However, what we know is that we will have new bodies. Christians will be able to enjoy the power of God once they receive their glorified bodies. The gospel of 1st John 3:2 suggests that “We are the children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be. But we know that we shall be like Him when He is revealed, for we shall see Him as He is.”

John further implies that our citizenship is in Heaven, from which we also eagerly await the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body so that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to his working. Believers are urged to keep their faith and walk in God’s light, for when the time comes, we shall join God and be granted the power of the Holy Spirit just as Jesus is, and we will be able to fly.

Will Jesus fly to earth when he comes the second time?

The scripture, as recorded in the book Acts 1:9-11 says that Jesus will return in the same manner he left the earth. He was taken up by the heavens, so He might come back flying.

Jesus will come back in great power and God’s glory. His coming will be visible to the whole world. Being the son of God. Matthew 24:30 suggests, “And then the sign of the man shall appear in Heaven, and then all tribes of the earth shall mourn. And they will shall see the son of man coming on the clouds of Heaven, with great power and majesty.”

The Bible says that Jesus will return to reward the earth’s inhabitants and bring much back to Heaven, the Kingdom of God. (Revelations 22:12)
