Nightfall usually signifies the end of another day God has bestowed upon us. What better way is there than to end the day in His presence – thanking Him for the blessings, surrendering our worries and anxieties of tomorrow unto Him, and leaning to Him for peace and comfort that surpasses human understanding?
With this in mind, let us lift our hearts to God with thanksgiving and pray.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank you for the blessing of this day. A lot has happened throughout the day up to this moment. I am grateful as you have been my guide through it all.
Even when you seemed distant, unknown to me, you were working behind the scenes in my favor.
Please forgive me for the flaws that I committed knowingly or unknowingly and guide me in your truth that I will be a better person tomorrow.
As I prepare to lay my head to sleep, I ask you to grant me peace and calmness. I surrender all my worries and doubts unto you, trusting in you to renew my strength so that I may wake up refreshed and with enough energy to tackle yet another day.
I thank you for your unwavering love and unending favor in my life. Please intervene in my thoughts and heart tonight so that I may only have pure thoughts and intentions so that I may always walk in your goodness and favor all the days of my life.
In the quietness of this night, I am reminded that I am a creature that entirely depends on your goodness and mercy. Tonight, as I sleep, I surrender my life to you and ask you to be my shepherd.
You that never sleep nor slumber, I ask you to protect me from any plans of the wicked upon my life, both physical and spiritual.
I pray that you grant me peace and tranquility of the mind and heart. May your reassurance help me find solace in your undying love, and may your presence give me comfort and bring forth good dreams.
Let me feel what it feels like to surrender my body to rest, knowing you are my provider, and I will never lack.
In this hour of rest, I pray that my eyes will be filled with sleep. I entrust my spirit unto you, Lord, that I will lie down in peace and wake up in peace.
I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
