Before we proceed with this prayer, it is important that you reflect on not only the physical changes it takes to lose weight but also your mindset.
The Lord is the ultimate giver of our willpower, as stated in Philippians 2:13, “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
Therefore, we must beseech this strength from Him when looking to make lifestyle changes. Let us pray.
Dear Father,
Almighty God, thank you for the gift of life and for making me an able being. I believe my body is your temple, and I honor and glorify your name with it.
It is fearfully and wonderfully made under your miraculous power, and for that, I am thankful. But, I come to you in the name of Jesus, asking for healing and a mental transformation so that I may lose weight.
As you promised God, your word would free us from destruction, so please give me the will and strength to make healthy choices in my daily life.
Walk with me so that I may eat healthy foods, do enough exercise, drink enough water, and get quality sleep to facilitate my weight loss.
Open my eyes and grace me with the knowledge I need to do all this.
Heavenly Father, please give me the gift of self-control and discipline to limit unhealthy food intake and instead stick to healthy habits that nourish my body.
I struggle with these virtues, but I know you can change my body and life for the betterment of your will. God, I humbly ask that you become the center of my weight loss journey and let me hear your voice every day.
May the spirit of junk food temptations and cravings never get near me! May your might and power also help me have patience and hope not to give up as I learn to heal and care for my body.
Out of your goodness, God, I also ask that you give the trainers, nutritionists, and anyone else assisting me while I shed weight the wisdom to extend sound counsel that will aid me in achieving my health goals.
I will forever exalt and praise you for healing me and granting my wishes.
I pray this, believing and trusting in Jesus’ name.
